Mommy Makeover
A confidence makeover is a customized combination of breast and body procedures designed to rejuvenate your physique and help you feel strong, empowered, and like yourself again — whether or not you’ve experienced pregnancy.

Despite the name, a “mommy makeover” isn’t just for moms — it’s for anyone who wants to restore their body and boost their self-confidence. At Metropolitan Plastic Surgery, we often call it a confidence makeover, because it’s about how you feel, not just where you’ve been.
A confidence makeover typically includes a combination of breast and body contouring procedures, tailored to your individual goals. Common combinations include:
- A breast lift, with or without augmentation using fat transfer or implants
- A tummy tuck to remove loose skin and tighten abdominal muscles
- Liposuction of areas like the waist, back, arms, or thighs
- Optional fat transfer to enhance areas like the buttocks, hands, or face
Everyone’s body and goals are different, which is why no two confidence makeovers are the same. Whether you’ve experienced physical changes from pregnancy, weight fluctuations, or simply want to look as vibrant as you feel, this fully customizable procedure can help you reclaim your shape — and your sense of self.

An overview of the procedure
Every person is unique and may have some similarities as well as differences to others in terms of their individual recovery experience. A mommy makeover is a combination of multiple procedures so it is common to have more downtime and required healing than if these procedures were performed individually.
Day of Surgery
Your recovery begins either at home with a trusted caregiver or with an overnight stay in the recovery center if your procedure is longer or more extensive. You’ll be fitted with a supportive surgical bra and an abdominal binder to promote healing. Short, gentle walks are encouraged as soon as you’re able to help boost circulation and reduce the risk of blood clots.
Days 1-3
You’ll return to Dr. Aimé’s office the day after surgery for your first post-op visit, where you’ll be guided through dressing changes and incision care. Discomfort is managed with prescribed medications while your body begins to adjust. Light walking within your home is encouraged to support healing, and you’ll wear compression socks and may use sequential compression devices. Some patients are started on a short course of blood thinners. With assistance, you’ll take your first shower, begin daily dressing care, and notice normal early swelling and bruising.
Weeks 1-2
You’ll continue with daily dressing changes and showers, while swelling — which often peaks between days 2 and 4 — begins to improve. During this time, you’ll start adding light daily activities back into your routine. You’ll also come in for your one-week post-op check and again at two weeks to have external suture knots trimmed. Compression socks are still recommended to help reduce the risk of complications.
Weeks 2-4
At this stage, you’ll transition into a standard compression garment, like a girdle or faja, for continued support. Many patients begin incorporating light exercise, such as short walks outside, as tolerated. Swelling continues to subside and you’ll start seeing early improvements in body contour and shape.
Weeks 4-6
As your energy returns, moderate exercise can usually be resumed, including low-impact strength or cardio activity. Major swelling typically decreases during this period, making your new contours more visible. Dr. Aimé may advise you to begin gradually tapering out of your compression garments depending on your healing progress.
After Week 6
You can typically return to your full activity level, including regular workouts and more intense exercise. Swelling continues to resolve, and your incisions will begin to fade and soften over the next several months. Follow-up appointments at 3, 6, and 12 months help ensure long-term healing, allow for refinements if needed, and give you an opportunity to ask questions throughout your journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

The benefit of combining surgical procedures is that it can decrease the costs of the surgical facility and anesthesia as well as combines recovery and downtime from multiple procedures to one or fewer time periods.
Sometimes it is beneficial or safer to break up the procedures into stages. Often if this is the case, the breast surgery and abdominoplasty are performed together and liposuction, fat transfer or other procedures are performed at a separate date. This is decided individually based on your goals, your candidacy for each procedure and Dr. Aime's recommendations and is generally discussed during your consultation appointment.
Dr. Aime recommends waiting a minimum of 6 months after your last child birth before having a mommy makeover and to be at least 3 months past when you stopped breast feeding. This allows the body to heal from pregnancy and childbirth and return to a normal state. The closer you are to your goal weight, the better your results will generally be as well.
Having a mommy makeover does not affect a woman's fertility or the ability to carry a baby to term. While it is possible and safe to get pregnant after a tummy tuck, ideally a tummy tuck should be performed after you are done having children. Similarly, breasts may stretch out again with breast feeding. However, sometimes unplanned pregnancies happen or women desire more children. In these cases, it is important to know that pregnancy can cause the skin and abdominal muscles to stretch out in order to accommodate the growing baby, particularly in the latter stages of pregnancy. This can affect the cosmetic result of the mommy makeover in some, but not all individuals. Each body responds differently to pregnancy and it is not possible to know beforehand how any one person's result will change with pregnancy.
